BIO

Megan Miller, freelance web designer and developer, graduated from Stanford University in 2006 with a BA in Music Composition. She is currently working part-time towards an MFA in Computer Arts and New Media at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Passionate about graphic and web design, band-leading and composition, visual arts and photography, Megan's eclectic interests make her a renaissance woman to the core.

Megan currently works in arts administration as Communications Manager at the Stanford Institute for Creativity and the Arts (SiCa). In her position, Megan has developed both the Student Arts Website, the Arts Guide, and the Arts Initiative website (and affiliated sites) across the university, successfully engaged thousands of students and members of the Stanford community in the arts, and implented grant programs, sustainable university traditions (such as An Art Affair festival), and provided resources and assistance to dozens of university organizations.

Past employment experiences include SFJAZZ, the Stanford Virtual Human Interaction Lab, and the Lawrence Livermore National Lab.

At Stanford, Megan has designed the curriculum for and developed a specialized class for arts-focused students: Technology for Artists and Writers. Topics covered include: introduction to HTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, rich media, and the end result for each student is a web portfolio. This class is offered as a supplement to regular curriculum once a year, and typically accommodates 12-15 students, with a waiting list of 20-40 students.

Megan is currently working her thesis project at the Academy of Art University: Apartment Dweller's Garden, an interactive website for gardeners in small spaces around the world. She expects the site to launch in Summer 2012 in conjunction with her graduation from the MFA program.

On the side, Megan enjoys backpacking, camping, cycling, travelling, Bikram yoga, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her beloved family, friends, and cat, Rex. Follow Megan on her blog.
